Sonia Vasconcelos is associate professor at the Science Education Program of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry Leopoldo de Meis (IBqM), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She teaches science communication, research methodology, and research ethics/integrity, and most of her research interests focus on these areas. Sonia is coordinator of the Graduate Council for Research Ethics at UFRJ <http://cpro16197.publiccloud.com.br/~ctep/>.
She has been among the organizers of the Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (BRISPE), held biannually in Brazil since 2010 <http://www.pucrs.br/eventos/inst/vbrispe/>. In 2015, Sonia was local co-chair of the 4th World Conference on Research Integrity (4WCRI), <https://wcrif.org/wcri2015>, which was held in Rio, Brazil. She currently serves as member of the Governing Board of the World Conferences on Research Integrity Foundation, <https://wcrif.org/>. She has also served as a member in the field of humanities and social sciences of the Research Integrity Committee of the Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), <http://www.cnpq.br/web/guest/apresentacao-comissao-de-integridade/#void>.
